Stepping Stones is a 501(c)3 Montana state-approved Substance Use Disorder Facility dedicated to providing substance use and gambling disorder treatment services to Missoula and its surrounding communities. They receive referrals from area medical providers, government agencies, the criminal justice system, local attorneys, and other mental health and substance use treatment facilities. Stepping Stones works closely with the five Missoula adult treatment courts, Probation and Parole, Child and Family Services, the Office of the Public Defender, as well as area attorneys, medical providers, and employers. In 2024, they served over 250 unique patients with nearly 5500 therapeutic services. They deliver both Outpatient and Intensive Outpatient services, which encompass comprehensive American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) assessments, along with recommendations for the most appropriate ASAM (American Society of Addiction Medicine) level of care placement. The therapeutic offerings include individual and group therapy, family substance abuse counseling, and relapse prevention groups. Stepping Stones also provide ACT assessments for misdemeanor Driving Under the Influence offenders, Prime for Life classes, culturally specific recovery groups, and criminal thinking groups for participants involved with the criminal justice system. Additionally, they offer care management and peer support services. Stepping Stones Behavioral Health Services is committed to reducing financial barriers to substance use disorder treatment.
